Week 9 Quiz – Punctuation

Week 9 COMM11007

punctuation

This week I did my usual test my knowledge prior to reading the prescribed text and performed my worst score ever!

However, a in-depth read of the chapter 6 headed punctuation, I ended up scoring 100 per cent.

Some quizzes are quite easy, while other quizzes definitely require further reading to develop a true understanding.

Newsletter for review: Specialist Group (CSG) at iucncsg.org/
Review a newsletter (see http://www.iucncsg.org/pages/Publications.html)

What kinds of stories are in the newsletter?

The newsletters contain information about the Crocodile Industry in the Philippines and includes global regional reports.

The CSG Newsletter is produced and distributed by the Crocodile Specialist Group of the Species Survival Commission (SSC) of the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature).

The aim of PCS is to spearhead the Crocodile Industry in the Philippines and also the Conservation of Crocodilians in the Philippines.

The newsletter lists names of people and organisations that have donated and supported CSG and its conservation program.

Minutes of the CSG Steering Committee also form part of the newsletter.

The newsletter contains recent up to date research papers and studies relevant to members and organisations subscribed to the newsletter.

How do these target the organisation’s audience?

The newsletters are sent out to board members of the PCS and local and international groups of people interested in the conservation of Crocodiles.

Newsletters are also distributed to target scientists, conservationists and other organisations that regulate wildlife and the farming industry who also have interests in the preservation of animals.

If you were a science journalist, is there anything you may be interested in following up as a story, and why?

If I was a science journalist I would definitely find the newsletters useful to source recent up to date studies and science publications.

Experts in the field of crocodiles have contributed to the newsletters and if I was a science journalist I would find that the information contained would be only relevant in the specialised field, that being crocodiles only.

What do you think is effective or otherwise about this newsletter?

The newsletter is effective as it is regular, professional and contains up to date information relevant to interested specialised groups.

The newsletter appears successful as it humanizes and gathers information and presents facts and relevant information to it’s target groups.
